Towards the light was a gradient lavender, gray canvas laid out in the sky.
The speed of the vehicle didn’t matter, it was vast as hell, you can;t pass it.
Usually interrupted by a billowed streak of cloud, white or gray.
But not this time.
Paper and grass pieces make most of the mess here where
mindless coins rattle around the door tray— in rhythm;
the waves from the speaker cause it.
It might be obnoxious but it encourages me and my wandering in the pounding expletives.
Under my palms rests the cheap steering wheel cover bought from the auto store.
Rubber stench still leaks from underneath where it is left unbothered by my grip.
The heat blows uncomfortably by now, display reads 90, too hot,
I adjust to 70.
Below is my phone, or guide to my destination. It is slick usually
but a case helps me slide it from underneath the leather seat.
5 minutes to go, probably longer.
No worries, I think I’m hypnotized.
